Screen recording captures everything displayed on your screen, window, or browser tab — useful for tutorials, bug reports, presentations, and documentation. This recorder uses the browser's getDisplayMedia API, which prompts you to choose what to share: your entire screen, a specific application window, or a single browser tab. Audio options include system audio (sounds from your computer), microphone input, or both. Recording quality depends on your chosen resolution: 1080p at 30 FPS produces approximately 150-200 MB per 10 minutes, while 720p at the same framerate is roughly half that. The recorded output is saved as WebM (VP9 codec) in most browsers, which offers excellent quality at smaller file sizes than H.264. No software installation is required — everything runs through browser APIs that are built into Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari (with varying levels of support). The recording processes and saves locally: your screen content is captured to a blob in browser memory, then downloaded as a file. No frames are transmitted to any server, making this suitable for recording sensitive content like financial dashboards, medical records, or proprietary software.

Professional-looking screen recordings follow a few key practices. Before recording: close unnecessary tabs and applications, disable notification popups (use Focus/DND mode), increase your cursor size for visibility, and consider your desktop wallpaper and visible bookmarks for a clean background. During recording: move your mouse deliberately (viewers need to follow your cursor), pause briefly after each click so viewers can see the result, and narrate your actions if including audio. A consistent speaking pace of 130-150 words per minute is comfortable for viewers. For tutorials, zoom into relevant areas of the screen — full 1080p screenshots can make small UI elements hard to see on mobile viewers. The "3-second rule" helps: after performing an action, wait 3 seconds before moving on so viewers can absorb what happened. Post-recording: trim the beginning and end to remove the setup and stop-recording moments.
