PNG to JPG

PNG and JPG serve different purposes, and converting between them is one of the most common image tasks. PNG uses lossless compression — every pixel is preserved exactly, making it ideal for screenshots, graphics with text, logos, and images requiring transparency. However, PNG files are often significantly larger than JPG equivalents for photographic content. JPG uses lossy compression tuned for photographs — it achieves dramatic file size reductions (often 70-90% smaller than PNG) by discarding subtle color variations that are barely perceptible to the human eye. Converting PNG to JPG makes sense when: you have photographic PNG images (screenshots of photos, camera app screenshots), you need to reduce file size for email attachments or web uploads, the image doesn't contain transparency (JPG doesn't support alpha channels), or you're uploading to a platform that prefers JPG. Note that converting PNG screenshots of text, diagrams, or user interfaces to JPG is generally not recommended, as the lossy compression creates artifacts around sharp edges and text characters.
